Dachshunds are very gentle with children and make great companions for kids,
long haul truck drivers, and motorhome dwellers. I have a friend that tells of a dachshund he owned as a kid. He says the dog would pull him around on his skateboard. Generally accepted standards are 11 pounds and under for a miniature dachshund whereas a standard dachshund can weigh more than 30 pounds. Dachshunds were bred in Germany to hunt badgers. Dachshunds become some
of the finest hunting and tracking dogs due to their keen nose and couragous spirit. They have short legs with powerful claws which make Dachshunds relentless below as well as above ground. These dogs will rid the neighborhood of gophers. |
